"What a trip! What a great group of women! Looking forward to the next adventure." JHS, California
On our extensive two-week trip to Western Turkey, we visited incredible ruins, museums and other sites. We saw gorgeous rock formations in Cappadocia and beautiful mosques everywhere and enjoyed sunny towns on the Aegean and Mediterranean Seas.
What a sensation to stand at Troy where 10 cities have now been discovered, the oldest of which is over 5000 years old! What a privilege to witness a Whirling Dervish ceremony and visit the tomb of Ataturk. What a thrill to visit an underground city, enter a caravanserai along the ancient Silk Road, experience Ephesus, the Blue Mosque, Hagia Sofia, the Bosphorus and the Grand Bazaar. There were so many things that took our breath away.
We met wonderful people and ate really delicious foods. We learned to love lentil and yogurt soups, mezes, stuffed vegetables, pide bread, sis and doner kebabs, havlah, Turkish coffee, apple tea and raki.
In sum, we found the country gorgeous, the people friendly and kind, and the history, ruins and other sites awe-inspiring.
