The Best Credit Card for Travel

If you travel, you really should think about the Chase Sapphire Reserve credit card. It has been receiving glowing reviews despite the hefty annual fee. The bottom line, people love it.

This post is no way endorsed by Chase Bank. We've been hearing quite a bit about this pretty nifty credit card that allows you to rack up points quickly, and especially is tailored to those who travel frequently. The Chase Sapphire Reserve card features many benefits. We'll highlight a few here.

Let's talk about the fee first because it is hefty, $450 annually. Before you run away, you should know most people say it pays you back rather handsomely with all its perks and points. For one, you will automatically receive $300 in statement credits as reimbursements for travel purchases charged to your card on your account anniversary. So yes, Chase take the $450 from you now but gives you back $300 at the end of the first year. If you have a great cash flow and aren't letting interest build up, that's a nice perk. But wait you say! That means you're still paying $150 annually.  Let's discuss.

The Perks

If you haven't enrolled in the TSA Pre-Check or Global Entry yet, this card pays for it. And, it will pay every 4 years as you have to renew. A statement credit of $100 reimburses you for the application fees, providing you charged them on the card. National Car Rental, Avis and Silvercar offer special car rental privileges when you book your reservation with the card.

Hotel and Resort Benefits are also included. You'll receive a variety of amenities from a selection of the world's top hotels such as complimentary room upgrades as well as early check-in or late check-out.

Probably one of the best is the complimentary airport lounge access that is available for cardmembers. You'll be able to rejuvenate and rest before your flight at over 1,000 VIP lounges in over 500 cities worldwide. You'll have to enroll one time but afterwards, you're in!

50,000 Bonus Points

If you spend $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months, you'll score 50,000 points right out of the gate. I do have to say, that's a nice perk but when the card first arrived in Summer 2016, it was 100,000 points. A bit of a cut, but that's what a company does when they are introducing a new product to the market.

3X Points on travel and dining worldwide

You'll earn 3 points for each $1 spent when your card is used for purchases in the travel category or the dining at restaurants category.  You'll earn 1 point for each $1 spent on all other purchases.

Redeeming Points

You can use your points to redeem for any available reward options, including cash, gift cards, travel, and products or services made available through the program or directly from third party merchants. What makes it great for those like like to travel is, you get 50% more value. For example, 50,000 points are worth $750 toward travel. Plus, according to the Chase website, there are no blackout dates or travel restrictions. As long as there's a seat on the flight or room at the hotel, you can book it through Chase Ultimate Rewards.

What do you think? I'd love to hear your comments. I'll be happy to help you earn lots of travel points! Book your next trip with us using this card and you'll be on your way to earning a lot of fun perks!
